"What pushes me to be always fascinated by architecture is that the discipline is alive; it looks at the past before it moves on to progress." - Geronimo V. Manahan

Arkiboks Boktalk 3
I am inviting everyone to Arkiboks Boktalk 3 (originally scheduled on February 5, but postponed to a date yet to be determined by comments to this post). Proposed topic: Architects for a Cause. It would be great if participants can bring someone involved in community-oriented projects in architecture, planning, and development.
As I commented before, I think that "architects for a cause" as a topic for discussion is too broad.
Cutting the size of the topic down to just "comunity related projects" still makes for a formidable topic. It can still be narrowed down.
Unless of course the talk is actually more exploratory than expository, then a broad topic is appropriate. That certainly opens up other talking points.
You might actually want to expand the idea of "causes" that architects take upon themselves.
Are the causes we subscribe too always altruistic and community oriented? Do they need to be? As an architect, what do I want to effect and why?.
The "why" that we ask ourselves, I believe, will eventually lead us to our "causes".
I agree. I think the next talk should be more exploratory in nature. Just to answer the question 'what is happening out there?' I am open to more suggestions.
