WANTED ARKI TEACHERS

Calling all architects who wish to teach for the love of teaching and the arki profession. Aalis na kase si Ate Ligs dito sa Ateneo De Davao University, Architecture Department. She's going full-time in UP Mindanao Arki. So, kukulangin na kame ng teachers. Actually, kahit andito pa rin si Ate Ligs, kulang talaga ang teachers. 8 lang kameng members ng faculty, kaya full-load kameng lahat at halos wala na kameng panahon mag-practice dahil sa teaching job namen.

Mahirap ba magturo? Yes. Compared sa students sa UP-Diliman, expect that students here are less studious. Kokonti lang yung pumupunta sa library, nagre-research nang matino, at nag-aadvance reading. So kung ikaw yung teacher, you should always think that you're giving a lecture to students who dont have any idea of what you're talking about. Hindi effective ang magbigay ng reading assignment and homework, kase nagkokopyahan lang sila. Pero mukhang promising naman ang graduates namen. Last board exam, 6 out of 7 passing namen. In terms of environment naman, it's the same with ADMU only less intellectual. Hehehehe... In terms of compensation, well... let's just say, it's not as competitive as you think it should be. Kaya nga sabi ko "for the love of teaching and the arki profession". Kase if it is for the love of money, wag na lang. =) Don't worry though, mura lang cost of living dito. For sure, makakapag-ipon ka.

tapos na! (well, almost)

matagal palang gumawa ng building no...nakakasawa din (ini-imagine ko lang kung meron kang project na ilang years gagawin -- eto mga 11 months lang). ito yung unang building na ako nagdrawing. you could say i had some contributions to the design (e.g. bright happy colors? hehe) i think it turned out better than i thought, considering na maraming ako doubts before. this is the new college of social work and community development building in u.p., by the way.
